I really like your latest set of thumbnails that you've created in response to both the artist's work and those architectural references we discussed. I think you're nailing it and that's exciting. I think you can certainly move on now to producing ideas leading to a final concept painting that sets out your intentions for the digital set. Your travelogue has a number of ideas in there for what might be your 'hero prop' - the building(s) that are most significant to the characterisation of your city. Your concept has an obvious duality to it - different districts, different lives, so perhaps you need to think about how you might communicate this idea in a single shot?
I'll keep this short then - I think you've done the thinking work and the leg-work to get to this stage, so now I want you to commit to the next phase - concept art > production art.
