Hey Alfie - I like 13 in terms of the way you're using the hat and the shirt in relationship to the sphere shape - I do think you can incorporate the molecular diagram into the character's clothes - for example - if you imagine looking up at the bottom of your character, the bottom of the sphere could have the molecular diagram on it - so the character could shift around to show it, before shifting around to show the 'face side' of the sphere (if that makes sense). I don't know if you're aware of these toys - Madballs - they're grotesque, but they might encourage you to think about how much you can get out of a sphere...
