These are some more generic thumbnails based on shapes I saw in my artists work. The thumbnails I produce from now will match more to my travelogue.

Hey Alfie :) Nice evocative travelogue - love the contrasts and the strongly political vibe, as we might expect from your artist. You've got some good strong shapes getting started here - you might want to look at some constructivist architecture for some additional guidance - lots of big simply monument images here:
